Enigma escape room5/30/2023 That being said, we had fun laughing at our guest player who jumped a few times at the eerie moments! To get the most out of this room, keep the team size to a 4.ħ/10 If you’re wanting a cinema themed escape room, you might end up a little disappointed. I feel if you were new to escape rooms you’d love this game, but as I’ve played a few, some elements were lacking for me. Whilst I was disappointed that the cinema theme wasn’t used at all, the company did use the killer character well in the gameplay. The puzzles were logical and, as mentioned above, created teamwork. But I liked the inventive way that we needed to get one of the other codes, which meant the number changes depending when you play.ħ/10I really enjoyed the gameplay of this room. There was also a leap of logic in getting one of the keypad codes which forced us into needing a clue. Thankfully I know my way around a computer so was able to bypass it, but others may have struggled. What did cause a slight hindrance was the nonfunctional icon on the laptop. One task required knowledge of something that many people wouldn’t know, but information was provided to prevent an unnecessary hindrance. There were interesting uses of the objects within the room which helped add variety in other ways. It would have been nice to have a bit more variety, but they did add realism to the escape. I feel the room/host should have made this clearer as at this stage of the game there was still a lot to do! There were no stand out puzzles for me, but I did enjoy the need for teamwork rather than just going off on your own.Ħ/10 Our host said this was a medium difficulty game, however we made it seem a lot harder! Key and keypad locks made up a large chunk of this linear game. We wasted a fair bit of time trying to find what had opened. One part did frustrate me a little when we solved a puzzle and heard a click, which we knew as experienced gamers meant that something had opened. The puzzles all tied into the ‘killer’ and helped you get a bit of understanding into his character. Once we’d been released from the cage, the puzzles we encountered were more logical and required you to think outside the box a little rather than just hunt for items. I liked the opening game where a spot of skill was required for you to be able to get the code to leave the cage you were trapped in. Clues are shown on a TV screen accompanied by a beep to inform you of their arrival.Ħ/10This game required a lot of teamwork and use of logic in order to proceed in the challenge. There’s a loose plot and the story of what happened to the employees unfolds as you play. The tasks were realistic to the theme, making use of these real world objects to progress. The decor fits the janitors room theme well, with its simple but believable design containing items you’d expect like cleaning materials, overalls, staff IDs and personal belongings. The pre-room where you’re given the story and your mission has a basic cinema-like feel to it, but the actual game is spent in a janitors room where there’s no link to the cinema at all. That being said, there were lots of good eerie moments, a couple of jump scares and a good use of space.Ħ/10 You’ll encounter some semi-realistic body parts, a couple of potential jump scares and a period of darkness, but this room is actually pretty tame in its scariness. As I’ve played a few of these type of rooms before, I found this one quite basic. As we proceeded through the game, the company emphasised on the crazy killer theme. This could have been a setting from multiple theme scenarios, nothing stood out to me that this was connected to a cinema. We entered a dark room and found ourselves locked up in a cage. We were given the brief by our host who explained that we had been gassed whilst watching the movie and that our game will start with us being locked up in a basement. But instead we sat in a room on high stools with no real link to a cinema. Played by Jenny, Paul, Bharath and 1 otherĮscaped with 3 minutes remaining, needing 4 cluesĥ/10Based on the synopsis, I was expecting to be in a cinema style theming, where maybe the host was dressed up as an usher. £20-35 per person depending on team size and day Will you discover the mystery behind Visionary Cinemas before time’s up? This game is of an eerie nature and is not for the faint-hearted. This game requires keen eyes, logical thinking and an instinct for survival. It’s not a coincidence that you’re the only ones in the cinema. You have been invited to watch tonight’s premiere ‘The Killer’.
